Ignition…LIFT OFF!

Church Ministry is designed to help people in every way.  Spiritually, you bet.  Then there’s health, family, marriage, finances, etc. But what about something as practical as auto repair?  Wait, what?  Church Ministry as fundamental as fixing or replacing a vehicle for a low-income family?  Yes, it exists at Ignite Wesleyan Church in Sheridan Wyoming…proud to say, my Church. https://ignitewesleyan.org/

Who are these guys?  They’re good dudes with big hearts for serving folks in need while serving Jesus Christ at the same time.  They are guys with grease under their nails and a passion for working on cars.

Low income families are Blessed by this Ministry every week.  Whether it’s auto maintenance offering basic automotive repairs and preventative maintenance at low to no cost to low income families AND over the last 5 years, the Ignition Ministry has given away 23 rebuilt, refurbished vehicles to low income families in need…in good running condition of course.

Imagine a single Mom with work, kids, school, events etc. and the family vehicle goes on the fritz.  Where can she turn if the family is living paycheck to paycheck?  A practical Ministry like Ignition can be a lifesaver.  On Wednesday July 24th at 6:15pm the 24th vehicle will be given away, with a completely rebuilt engine, to a Mother of two who needed a highway worthy car to get to her child’s medical appointments in Casper.  I’ve witnessed the handoff of keys to a family in similar circumstances, it made me weepy…the happy kind.  And all for God’s Glory and for the growth of His Kingdom!

Now I’m no mechanic. When it comes to cars, other than the very basics (change a tire and the oil) I’m really just in the way.  However I have shown up on a few Wednesday evenings (Ignition night) just to hang out with, joke with, Pray with and to absorb some of the positive vibes these guys produce.  Some of them are regular Church goers and some are not.  But all have that same desire to give back to their community…awesome guys!
